Back-2-School Curly Hair Party

For Community Partners

We’re excited to invite you to be part of an uplifting and affirming event for youth and families in our region—The CrownKids Curly Hair Party. This weekend-long back-to-school celebration will be held August 8–10, 2025, at Liberty Center Mall (7100 Foundry Row, Suite 288) and will offer:

  • Free haircuts and styling for textured hair

  • Braiding and hair care education for caregivers and youth

  • School supplies and hygiene kits for students

  • Hands-on workshops, affirming activities, and community resources

This event is designed especially for foster, adoptive, and racially diverse families in Hamilton and Butler Counties—households who often face unique challenges when caring for textured hair and finding culturally affirming resources. We aim to serve 50+ children and their families during this event.

Our Story:

I’m Cecilia Knox, owner of Art of Cecilia Hair Gallery and co-founder of CrownKids Healthy Hair Care. With over 20 years in cosmetology, I’ve spent the last nine years working directly with foster and adoptive youth, inspired by my son Marquez, whom we adopted in 2019 after fostering him from one month old. His journey inspired this mission: to affirm identity, build confidence, and support families through inclusive hair care and education.

Our Nonprofit Partner:

To ensure full eligibility for tax-deductible donations and corporate sponsorships, this event is hosted in collaboration with Preventive HealthCare Services (PHCS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Columbus, Ohio. PHCS has over 18 years of experience serving underserved families through preventive care, youth outreach, and wellness programs.

Together, we can uplift and empower local youth as they return to school feeling loved, prepared, and proud of who they are. I’d be honored to speak with you directly about how you or your organization can get involved.

With gratitude,

Cecilia Knox
